ISEPS Special Projects Option
The
ISEPS overseas study program has hands-on internship programs
available in Seville, through its Special Projects
Option (SPO). SPO internships may be of a career-oriented,
academic, or intellectual nature, and are for the serious students
who wish to use his/her time abroad as a constructive platform
for accruing genuine career development experience, in a Spanish-speaking
professional environment.
There
are SPO internships available in International
Trade & Commerce,
Global Tourism, International Business, Journalism and Communications,
Franchising, Comparative Education, Immigrant and Refugee Affairs,
Pre-Law, and other areas. Planning
directly ahead of time with the student and his/her Home Campus
Advisor, ISEPS details a professional working experience that
introduces the participant to the real world requirements, demands,
and results-oriented expectations of a work environment. These
are not push-the-photocopier-button jobs; this is real work.
With
the ongoing support of the Home Campus Advisor, the future participant
outlines an internship proposal, which is sent to ISPES for consideration
and approval. The essential question is for ISEPS to determine
if it is really something that the participant can carry out given
his/her background, education, and particular skills, within the
reality of an assigned professional setting. The Home Campus Advisor
decides upon credits for the internship, and advises ISEPS of
any credit agreement made with the student so that ISEPS fulfills
the requirements for home institution credit.
At
the same time, ISEPS will name and Advisor/Counselor who will
in effect become the Home Campus Advisor's adjunct in Seville.
The Advisor/Counselor will meet regularly with the student to
insure that everything is progressing as per all home campus expectations
in the accepted outline. The Advisor/Counselor will explore solutions
for possible situations that might arise, with the objective being
that from the very moment that the participant arrives in Seville,
he/she will begin working.
Internships
are available in the Fall and Spring Semester as a part of the
overall semester academic plan (~12 - 14 weeks in duration), or
in the Summer Session on its own (~5 weeks in duration), and for
3 - 6 credits depending on the determined scope of work. For more
information, contact ISEPS Director for Campuse & Institutional
Relations Chilton E. Harper, MPA at: Info@SevilleStudies.com.
